Wi-Fi Hotspots Provide Helping Hand to Businesses Businesses in and around Scarborough will have the chance to see how setting up Wi-Fi hotspots can help them get new clients and give existing customers a better Internet experience with a free demonstration at the Victoria Seaview Hotel on 10th and 11th of March.
The free event will run from 9am until 4pm with a full presentation at 11am and 2pm, and are being organised by Hull based Telecoms Company Mediasat 3.
They aim to show local businesses the benefits that having Wi-Fi hotspots can bring to clients. “Setting up basic wireless hotspots using existing broadband connections is very cost effective and means that customers can access the Internet at any time in any place.
This means that they end up staying longer and spending more money in that particular business,” says the company’s Technical Sales Director Mike Harlington. “As soon as customers using our hotspots log on they will access our unique local information service called Ask Mob which will give them access to local services and information that they wouldn’t find elsewhere.

Of course, they can also then surf the web,” commented Mike. Phone services are also available with the company’s packages and Mike says that the service is ideal for businesses such as guest houses, bed and breakfasts, bars and hotels where people have the time and need to find out more information via the web. He said: “Given Scarborough is a popular visitor destination, it’s no surprise that we’ve already had a lot of interest in our services from leisure related businesses in this area. These sessions will give people the opportunity to come along and ask questions free of charge to see if this technology could help their business.”
